The Holy Grail: Aligning Your Business to Your People
People are living lives of quiet desperation while at the same time, organizations are spending millions of dollars attempting to engage them in their work. After watching this throughout my career, and cycling through hours of programs thrust upon me by well-meaning HR departments, I realize no one has cracked the code of developing a path to personal, professional, and corporate value.
No one has cracked the code of unleashing the hidden value lying dormant within their people.
This Great Conversation with Dr. Daniel Hallak, Chief Commercial Officer of WiLD (Whole + Intentional Leadership Development) Leaders, teased out this tragic dilemma and attempted to describe the ‘why’ behind it, and how to address it.
I came away with the following counter-intuitive revelations:
Perhaps we should start with aligning the business to the people before we ask them to engage in our mission and purpose.
Perhaps we need to help our people self-measure their personal effectiveness in leading their lives which includes their professional role. The potential: a whole life not a personal life divorced from their business life.
And then, perhaps, we need to have faith in the outcomes from whole people, unleashed to explore themselves within the framework of your vision, mission, and goals, measuring this impact along the way.
And then, perhaps, sharing this journey with others, providing a roadmap to a different kind of organization that can inform their ecosystem of stakeholders, their markets, their community, and their world.
This becomes not only a great conversation, but, perhaps, a manifesto for how people can evaluate who they are going to yoke themselves to on their path to value.
