about Security Specifiers

SecuritySpecifiers was established in 2010 by Ray Coulombe, a 30+ year security industry veteran, to address the need for the physical security industry to more effectively engage with the specifier community. In 2017, Ray initiated the highly successful CONSULT Technical Security Symposium.

In 2015, Ray was awarded SIA's Jay Hauhn Excellence in Partnerships Award by SIA for his role in leading the CSI Division 28 update effort. He is on the Electronic Technician Association’s (ETA International) competency boards for Information Technology Specialist and Electronic Security Networking Technician certifications, both of which he holds. He sits on the PSA Security Network Education Advisory Board, and he writes the Tech Trends column for Security Technology Executive (STE) and Security Business magazines. Formerly, Ray was COO and co-founder of SyPixx Networks and has played a significant role in the development of several other technology companies in the industry. Early in his career, Ray served as a Captain in the United States Air Force, where he was involved in the development and production of TV, laser, and infra-red guided missiles. He holds a BSEE from Cornell University; Masters degrees in Management from MIT and Information Technology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute; a graduate certificate in Cyber Security from the University of Rhode Island; and numerous professional certifications. He belongs to ASIS, IEEE, ETA International, and the Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society.

a Vital LInk

The security consultant is a vital link between a building or facility’s requirement for security and the successful installation of a system to meet that requirement. From risk assessment to security audit to system design to the details of implementation and practice, it is the security consultant who identifies, then turns requirement into reality. SecuritySpecifiers allows a variety of constituencies – OEM's, integrators, facility owners and operators, end-users, and architectural firms – to access an up-to-date listing of companies and individuals skilled in the design and specification of physical security systems
